I had the pleasure of chatting with Dovile hair and make-up stylist, about her journey in setting up her own business in line with her passions. I am so happy to collaborate with Dovile on a styled shoot concept in late April.
Tell us about Dovile Hair and Make-up?
My name is Dovile and I’m a Hair & Makeup Artist based in Navan Co.Meath. My purpose is to help woman highlight their natural beauty. I am passionate about creating individual hair and make-up looks to help my clients feel their best. I am passionate about providing a personalized service all-around hair & make-up care.
What led you to hair & make -up?
As I was growing up I always loved crafts and wanted to become a fashion designer. I loved watching hairstylists creating magic on their clients. I was mad about the smell of make-up, especially lip pencils & eye shadows. I am sure any other make-up artists can relate and adored their mum’s makeup as well.
I started cutting hair when I was 15. We used to play salon in our house. I realised quickly that I was passionate about empowering women to feel their best selves. Hairstyling is such a creative field and I couldn’t wait to become a ”hair designer”.
After my Leaving Certificate, I started my journey. I professionally trained to become a Makeup Artist & Senior Hairstylist at Cavan Institute.
What keeps you passionate about weddings?
Almost 4 years ago I left working in a salon and specialized in Bridal Hair & Makeup. It felt like the right career path for me.
It’s an honor to be part of such an important day of my client’s life. I love to enhance the natural beauty of my brides. I adore witnessing the uniqueness of weddings, working along with other creatives, and discover exciting wedding venues around Ireland.
How long have you been in business as Dovile hair and make-up?
I have 10 years of experience in the beauty industry.
Where do you find inspiration for hair & make-up styling?
My main inspiration comes from people and nature. I love complimenting natural beauty, everyone is unique and should embrace that. I’m crazy about accessorizing hair with flowers, so if you’re thinking about flowers in your hair on your big day, please get in touch, I would be honored.
What should couples know before hiring a hair & make up artist?
Once they have decided on a wedding date and have their venue confirmed, start to contact your key wedding vendors. If you have a preferred hair and make-up artist ensure they have availability for your date.

What sets you apart in your field as Dovile hair and make-up?
I can provide both Hair and Makeup Services for up to 3 people. For any more than 3 people, I am able to provide just one of the services. Usually, past brides will continue using my services for special occasions such as Newborn Photoshoots, Christening, Wedding anniversaries, and Parties. Additionally, I offer free online consultation to assist with their hair & skincare at home. I do work with high-quality suppliers and will recommend suitable products.
What common mistakes do you see couples making?
In my experience, I see couples more concerned more about what other people think than tuning in to their own priorities. It’s your Big Day and celebrate it in a way that feels right to you as a couple.

What’s the most memorable wedding you have ever worked on?
It has to be a Bridal Party at ‘Hideaway at Foxhollow’. The bride told us to let ourselves in once we arrive at the house and set up in the kitchen. I and another make-up artist arrived at the B&B just before 6 am. The lights were on in the hall but something didn’t seem right. We checked google maps and realized that we were at the wrong house. It was actually next door! We couldn’t stop laughing only to find out that the photographer made the same mistake…
Outside of your profession, tell us about yourself?
Outside of my work, I love traveling with my boyfriend Derek. I spend a lot of time outdoors gardening. I love having board game nights with our friends and family. In the evening I enjoy lighting a fire and sitting down to read a book with my cat named Kitty next to me.
