Sophie Hannah-Byrne – Vendor Spotlight

Introducing Sophie as a wedding vendor for the month of July. The music for the ceremony is just as important as any other part of the ceremony and is chosen intentionally by the couple.

Tell us about being a vocalist?

It gives me the greatest pleasure to perform as a vocalist for ceremonies nationwide. I offer different packages to suit the needs of each couple, helping to create the appropriate atmosphere for each ceremony. From the administrative side, helping a couple choose the perfect setlist for their wedding, to performing live, I really enjoy each part of the process.

What led you to ceremony music?

I am very lucky to have grown up singing with a variety of choirs and music groups. I learned so much, and continue to learn, from fellow musicians and teachers that I surround myself with. By performing at various ceremonies for family and friends, the business grew organically through word of mouth and I have been fortunate enough to play a role in providing some solace and joy to people through music.

What keeps you passionate about weddings?

I love that every day is different! Having the chance to meet so many people allows me the opportunity to connect with them through music, continue to expand my repertoire, and to experience the thrill of performing live on a regular basis.

How long have you been in business?

Over ten years ago I began singing at weddings and ceremonies of various kinds, however, it was not until the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic that I actually sat down to make a website! It has allowed me to expand my business nationwide.

Where do you find inspiration?

By listening to others and in the seemingly unrelated aspects of life! Focusing on the lyrics of a song really helps me to connect with its message and ensures that I perform with authenticity and feeling.

What sets you apart in your field?

I think the fact that I sing songs from a wide variety of music genres is quite appealing to clients. My setlist tends to be quite eclectic! I am always very happy to learn a song that holds a special meaning for clients too.

What common mistakes do you see couples making?

If I was to recommend one thing, I would advise couples to start thinking about their song choices as early as possible to ensure that their setlist is meaningful to them.

Outside of doing ceremony music, tell us about yourself?

I get a lot out of practising yoga. It sets me up for the day. I also enjoy practising Gaeilge and Spanish by talking with friends or watching a TV series. Additionally, I love cooking and baking for family and friends whenever I get the chance.
